Beginners Guide To Mixing Patterns

I'm so excited to write this post because when it comes to mixing patterns it can be a little {okay...a LOT} intimidating. There's always so many different opinions of what you can or can't do and honestly I think a lot of it comes down to what you yourself are comfortable with. But I'm here with a list of tips to help you the next time you're feeling like mixing things up.

1. Start small this way you can find what you are
comfortable with and don't get overwhelmed.

2. Polka dots and stripes are the easiest to mix.

3. Black and white stripes are basically a neutral
and can be mixed with various patterns
(try with plaid, leopard, bold florals.)

4. Choose pieces with 1 or 2 common colors.

5. Match colors not prints.

6. Keep one pattern smaller than the other.

7. Use a belt to break up bold patterns.

8. Break up your look with solid pieces.

9. Pair neutral prints with colorful prints.

10. Add a patterned shoe with a top or skirt.
